Mazvita Maradzika's career began the way many in Zimbabwean finance do — as an audit trainee, learning the discipline of the numbers before learning anything else. Today she is a managing director, and one of a still-small number of women occupying that seat in the country's finance sector.

## Building Credibility, Twice

"Early on, you build credibility once — through competence," Maradzika says. "Later, as a woman moving into rooms that have historically had very few women in them, you find yourself building it again, on a different axis entirely."

She is measured, not bitter, about that reality. Her focus has consistently been on outcomes: leading teams through complex audits, then transaction advisory work, and eventually into an executive management role where she now sets strategy rather than simply reporting on it.

> "Representation isn't a nice-to-have. It changes which problems get noticed and which solutions get proposed."

## Advice to the Next Generation

Asked what she would tell a young woman starting an audit traineeship today, Maradzika doesn't hesitate: "Don't wait to be invited into the strategic conversations. Bring a point of view to every room, even the ones where you're the most junior person present. That habit compounds."

She credits mentorship — both received and given — as a decisive factor in her trajectory, and is an active voice in CFO Zimbabwe's community for exactly that reason.
